Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday strongly condemned the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders and activists across the state. In a statement to KNS, he said, “New Delhi has adopted its traditional tactics of raids, arrests, harassment, calling the youths and students to the police stations and camps.”Lashing out at the pro-Indian politicians of Kashmir, Geelani said “I feel very sorrow over the thinking of some people who endorse and support the oppression, cruelties and excesses of police.”He alleged that these people have always played selfish politics to get the salaries and perks from the masters of Delhi. “Their hands are soaked with the blood of thousands of innocent people of Kashmir.”

Geelani strongly condemned the mass arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders and activists across the state. “After arresting the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, the government is blindly detaining every person who is in any way related to this organization. The fresh arrested persons are district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah, Abdul Gani Bhat district president Baramullah, Syed Mohi-ud-din Andrabi district president Pulwama, Mehraj-ud-din Rabani, Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Mohammad Amin Parray, Saif-ud-din Mir, Habibullah Gojri, Sanaullah Mir, Abdul Rasheed Kreeri Pattan, Hilal Ahmad, Mohammad Ramzan tehsil president Kreeri, Abdul Majeed Rather Budgam, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat D.P.M, Fayaz Ahmad Trali and many other youths and students once again put under house arrest on 30 October, Thursday evening,” he said.

Meanwhile, Geelani was again placed under house arrest on Friday. “He was released after the floods engulfed the whole Valley but on yesterday evening a police vehicle blocked the main entrance of the Geelani’s residence and started a new phase of his house detention. Today police repeated its old tyrannical traditions and barred him from offering the Friday congregational prayers,” a spokesman of the Hurriyat (G) said.“It has now become the routine of New Delhi to suppress the peaceful voice of Geelani and he is even being stopped to perform his religious duties,” he alleged.
