Several block presidents and other party office bearers from Ludhiana and other parts of the state today launched the “remove Bajwa” signature campaign saying, “Bajwa has been total failure for over one and a half year now. He has not a single achievement to his credit except for piding the party”.Addressing a press conference here today, the Block Presidents and DCC office bearers and ward presidents, including Palwinder Singh Taggar, Satwinder Singh Jawaddi, Baljinder Singh Bunty, Rakesh Sharma, Vinod Bathla alleged that Bajwa was misleading the party High Command and the Party President Ms Sonia Gandhi Ji and Rahul Gandhi Ji.They said, by appointing the working presidents he has virtually created a pision in the party at the grassroots level. “Thanks to Bajwa the Congress stands totally split in Punjab today”, they alleged, adding, “as long as Bajwa is there the party cannot hope to win the 2017 elections”.
Referring to the repeated defeats party suffered under his leadership they said, “his track record is disastrous. He lost the bye-elections and the parliamentary elections. So much so he lost from Gurdaspur including his family bastion of Qadian”.Without naming anyone, the office bearers demanded that the party high command must choose a leader who is not only acceptable to every section of the party, but to the masses as well.
“So far Bajwa has only been claiming the support of the party high command”, they said, asking, “what about the support from the grass-root workers?”They said, every action he claimed to initiate had badly failed. “Whether it was dharnas against the drug smuggling in Punjab, the sand mining, law and order or industrial relief, he has only been speaking and doing nothing on the ground’, they said.Accusing him of practising dictatorship, they said, he has removed several important elected office bearers like the district and block presidents for alleged non performance. “But he never gave any notice nor asked for any explanation from anyone before removing them”, they pointed out, while adding, “let him also bring out his own worksheet as what he did during the last 18 months except piding the party at all levels”.They alleged that Bajwa had made the PPC into a private limited company with himself and his brother Fateh Bajwa as wholly and solely incharge of everything. “He wants to field his brother Fateh Bajwa from Ludhiana for other reasons also as Ludhiana happens to be the financial capital of Punjab”, they alleged.
Accusing him stifling the voice of the workers, they said, “even during Rahul Gandhi Ji’s visit, out of 234 block presidents only two were allowed to speak and those two were his own people from Gurdaspur”.“Today we have launched a ‘signature campaign’ urging the Congress President Madam Sonia Gandhi Ji to remove Bajwa and appoint someone who can lead and take everybody along”, they said, while disclosing that they will go to every place in the state and knock every door at the centre and won’t rest till the party is not rid of the Bajwa brothers and company.Present on the occasion included, Akshay Bhanot, G.S Mand, Sunny Kainth, Inderjit Tony Kapoor, Rohit Pahwa, Maninder Singh Titu, Balwinder Singh Bedi, Sunil Shukla, Deepak Hans.
