Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a superintendent in the department of Central Excise and Service Tax red handed while receiving bribe of Rs. 20, 000, 00 today in Ludhiana.Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that a team of Vigilance Bureau headed jointly by the DSP Bikramjit Singh and DSP Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Purewal along with Inspectors Sukhdev Singh and Baljinder Singh nabbed Superintendent Amarjit Singh Dhaliwal red handed while receiving an amount of Rs. 20,000,00 as bribe.
The trap was laid on the complaint of one Gurdeep Singh Jujhar of Ludhiana. In his complaint, Mr. Gurdeep Singh said that a case relating to the audit of the Excise and Service Tax of his company Fastway Citizens Cable ltd. was lying pending with the suprintendent A.S.Dhaliwal of the concerned department and the superintendent asked him to give an amount of Rs. 3 Crore as bribe for the settlement of his Audit cases lying pending with him. But later it was settled that Rs. 2 Crore would be paid to the officer concerned for the final settlement of the pending cases. An amount of Rs. 60 lakhs was asked to be given to the suprintendent before Diwali and the first installment of Rs. 20,000, 00 of the money settled was being handed over to Superintendent A.S.Dhaliwal in a Hotel in Ludhiana where he was caught red handed in the presence of witnesses accepting the money from Mr. Gurdeep Singh. A case a u/s 7, 13(2)1988 in the Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana has been registered and the investigations have been initiated.
