Srinagar , 10 Oct 2014

“The areas of Sonwar, Shivpora,Indra Nagar etc that fall directly under the cantonment area of Badami bagh army are the most devastated among the areas we have visited so far. These areas are still filled with heaps of dirt and filth and anyone who wants to know what Indian army has actually done during floods should visit these areas to know the truth,” this was stated by the chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik who for the second consecutive day visited these areas today.

According to a statement issued to KNS, after coming to know about the grim situation faced by the people of these cantonment localities, Yasin Malik today again went to these areas with relief material and distributed blankets, rice, flour, cereals, milk, water, beddings, pulses ,edible oil and other important material among the deserving people. On the occasion Yasin Malik said that after recent flood, Indian media, rulers and their Kashmiri puppets were seen busy glamorizing Indian army for their rescue and relief operations but anyone who wants to know the reality should visit the areas that fall directly under the command of army and see what is the condition of people in these areas even after one month. Yasin Malik said that of all the areas in Srinagar, these contentment localities are most unlucky because being a part army contentment , common peoples relief was not able to reach these localities and despite all the tall claims and propaganda by Indian rulers through their  army  authorities have not till date even tried to sanitize these localities.

Yasin Malik said that other parts of Srinagar which was equally devastated by the flood if compared to these contentment localities are in a better shape and have been sanitized to large extent for which Srinagar Municipal Corporation deserves appreciation. He said that contentment area of Indra Nagar, Sonwar, Shivpora A&B and other adjacent localities look like a ghost town where destruction and peals of decomposed garbage with dirty smell are adding to the misery of flood devastated people. Yasin said that because being a part of contentment army authorities are actually in charge of these localities and they have miserably failed to even sanitize these areas, therefore it is the duty of people themselves to stand up with self help passion and sanitize their localities and eradicate chances of spreading disease. Yasin Malik also appealed the people to look after those who have been worst hit and also minorities living in these areas. He also visited Durganath Mandir and provided relief to the stranded family’s .Yasin Malik also visited a mosque in Sonwar where many families which have lost their houses due to flood are living temporarily and provided them necessary relief.
