“Kashmiris living in different parts of the world are willing to provide help and assistance to flood devastated people but the need of the hour is to channelize this support so that this reaches to everyone deserving. NR Kashmiris should adopt ruined families one by one and try to help them rebuild their homes again,” this was stated by the chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malijk while talking to affected people at Indra Nagar, Sonwar Shivpora and stranded Pandit families at Durganath temple sonwar. Yasin Malik distributed blankets, clothes, rice, flour, cereals, pulses, milk, water, medicines, biscuits, edible oil and other necessary material among the affected.

According to a statement issued to KNS, Malik and his team saw the scale of destruction and devastation this whole area has faced and were informed by the people that the area has been deprived of help and relief so far and very few people have reached this worst hit area till date. In this area dozens of houses have been totally shattered by the floods and almost every house hold has suffered huge losses.  Yasin sahib while expressing solidarity with the people of these areas said that the scale of destruction caused by the floods is such huge that without the help of international community it is almost impossible to coup up with the situation. Yasin said that it is the common practice of international community headed by united nations to help areas hit by natural disasters but the people of Kashmir are unfortunate in this case also as being a disputed territory, we are being deprived of this international aid also.

Yasin said that in a situation where everything has been shattered and every one affected by a natural catastrophe, it is the duty of Kashmiris living across the world to stand up and help rebuild Kashmir again. He said that Kashmiris living abroad are willing to do so and he has himself received hundreds of calls from these Kashmiris, pledging to help rebuild Kashmir. Yasin Malik said that if these non-residing kashmiris are serious in this matter, let them join hands together, keep their aid and help transparent and adopt devastated families one by one and help these families rebuild their houses and lives. He said that for making this job easy, all those organizations and voluntaries who have been working for flood hit people on ground should prepare a comprehensive list of the affected people and families collectively or assign this job to any one among them and put it on a common website, blog or social media network, so that everyone intending to adopt any family can pick their whereabouts from that website or blog. Yasin Malik said that this way we can keep the whole program of aid and assistance transparent and reach every deserving family and help them rebuild their ruined houses and lives. He said that NR kashmiris and volunteers will find us alongside them in this noble job.

Yasin Malik said that Kashmiri by their self help approach have succeeded in feeding and rescuing millions of flood hit people but now time has come to join hands and rebuild damaged houses and lives. Kashmiris being a state less people will have to do this job by themselves and we as humans are also eagerly looking towards the international community’s help and assistance in this regard. He said that Non residing Kashmiris have a great role to play in this and we are hopeful that they will do everything possible in this regard. (KNS)
