Ludhiana , 04 Oct 2014

Shiromani Akali Dal spokesman, general secretary, core committee member and advisor to Chief Minister, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, today accused the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of politicising the unfortunate incident involving the killing of two Dalit youth in Ahluwalia Colony, Jamalpur area of Ludhiana, for their own vested political interests, knowing fully well that the State government had already meted out exemplary punishment to the delinquent police officials. In a statement issued here today, Mr Maheshinder Singh Grewal said that Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Mr Partap Singh Bajwa and AAP MP Mr Bhagwant Mann had joined hands out of frustration to derive political mileage out of a tragic incident. "It is sad that the duo are playing politics over the death of two Dalit youth," rued Mr Grewal.

He said that after this tragic incident, the police personnel directly involved in the incident were dismissed from job and Khanna SSP was suspended. He said that this clearly shows that the Punjab government has taken this matter seriously and Gurjeet Singh, the main suspects of this incident, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Mr Grewal said Home minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal had given clear cut directions to the police force that no one was above the law. He said that a person like Partap Singh Bajwa, who has been totally rejected by people of his constituency, and his fellow Congressmen don't consider him their leader, is using this tragic incident for gaining political mileage in a bid to regain his lost political ground. The SAD leader said that Bhagwant Mann is fond of playing the role of a street performer and he gave one such performance at Samrala. "It is because of such acts of Mr Mann that the popularity of AAP had touched its lowest ebb in the State. The AAP would be well advised to make a mature and mentally stable representative its face in Punjab", he added.Assuring the people that the SAD - BJP government would ensure justice in the Khanna incident, Mr Grewal urged the people not to pay any heed to rumour mongers and mischief makers who wanted to destroy the hard own peace in the State.
