Chairman Hurriyat Sayed Ali Geelani cautioned the government that they ould put in place concrete measures to rehabilitate the flood affected traders, farmers and the people who have been rendered homeless before the winter season starts and if they are not in position to do that or any other reason is there, then they ould issue me my travel documents so that he can collect donations in the foreign countries and he could help his people to start a new life and compensate their losses. He said that by helping the flood victims, “government is not going to do any favor for them because on the one hand from last six decades India is looting the natural resources of Jammu & Kashmir and on the other hand the government collects huge taxes from the same traders and shopkeepers who were affected by recent flood.”

In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) chairman said that India is occupying Jammu & Kashmir with the help of its military might so it is their responsibility to compensate the flood affected people for their losses and rehabilitate them as soon as possible. He further said that the failure of the government machinery and delay in the rehabilitation works is giving an impression that the government is either not in that position or they deliberately doesn’t want to do that and they want to do politics over this human issue. Geelani  said that world community particularly Muslim countries have taken serious notice of the destruction caused by the floods in Jammu & Kashmir and the response which we received for our appeal for the help is very encouraging. He said that if government will issue me the travel documents, I believe that I will collect as much donation for the Jammu & Kashmir in the foreign countries with which we can rehabilitate and compensate the losses within a ort span of time. Geelani  said that the situation created by the recent floods in Jammu & Kashmir is a big human disaster, so the government ould not have any hesitation in issuing me my travel documents. And if they will not do this then it will be treated that they are not serious in rehabilitation of the people.

Meanwhile, Geelani and Hurriyat general secretary Muhammad Araf Sehrai today took stock of the situation at the central relief camp at Hyderpora and issued instructions for speeding up the relief work while as a team led by Peer Saifullah and Dr. Naseem Geelani distributed relief material among the affected people of Alochi Bagh and another two teams headed by Sayed  to Nowgam and Mohammad Maqbool Chadoora to Bemina where they distributed ration and expresses sympathy with the people. Here under the supervision of district president Islamabad (Anantnag) Mir Hafizullah, ration and other relief material was distributed worth lakhs of rupees in Dewaan Colony of Naibasti, Khanbal, Danter, Aaram Pora, Uran Haal, Hallmullah and in many villages of Bijbehara. In a statement issued to the press, hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Geelani  although not so well with his health but he is personally monitoring the relief works and for this purpose he many times a day ask for the reports and issue instructions.

Today morning he took stock of the situations of the central relief camp at Hyderpora and stressed upon the ow of discipline during the distribution process and speeding up the relief works. He said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is very much concerned that no one should suffer due to the starvation in this situation and we want to continue our relief work on priority bases. We although have very limited resources available but we hope that the people not affected by the floods will help us in this work. Geelani thanked and praised those youths who worked as volunteers day and night to help the needy people. He said that we can’t give them anything but their work is recorded with almighty Allah and He will give them best returns. (KNS)
