Punjab Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Research Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, reiterated that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously working to improve healthcare delivery across Punjab and ensure access to quality healthcare services for every citizen.

Attending The Final Stitch 2026, a major Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and surgical academic conference organized by the Department of General Surgery, Dr. B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali at NIPER, he emphasized the need for compassionate patient care, ethical medical practice, skill-based training and lifelong learning among healthcare professionals.

He also encouraged students and young doctors to maintain the highest standards of professionalism while serving society. Interacting with young doctors during The Final Stitch 2026 and getting encouraged by their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment towards patient care, Health Minister remarked that the young doctors of today would be the future leaders of Punjab’s healthcare system and emphasized that quality medical education and continuous learning are essential for building a stronger healthcare framework.

Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Government, he highlighted the efforts being put in by the Punjab Government towards strengthening healthcare and medical education in the state. Sharing his message. Dr. Balbir Singh congratulated Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences Mohali for organizing an academic event of such scale and relevance.

He appreciated the efforts of the institution in promoting surgical education and creating opportunities for interaction between experienced surgeons and the next generation of medical professionals. During the felicitation of MBBS Final Year university toppers of Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences Mohali, Health Minister presented medals and commendation certificates to the meritorious students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.

Disha, who secured the highest position in the university examinations, was specially felicitated and congratulated for her exceptional performance. Organized in association with the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Punjab Chapter, The Final Stitch 2026 brought together more than 350 delegates and 32 senior professors and surgeons from across North India for three days of academic discussions, clinical learning, surgical skill development and interaction with young medical professionals.

Earlier, the Health Minister was welcomed by Dr. Navdeep Singh Saini, Director Principal and Medical Superintendent, AIMS Mohali, along with Dr. Bhagwant Singh, Chairman, Board of Management, AIMS Mohali, faculty members, residents and members of the organizing committee.

Apart from 32 distinguished surgeons, professors and academicians from premier medical institutions across North India, eminent guest faculty included Dr. Pawanindra Lal, Dr. A.K. Attri, Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Dr. Gyan Saurabh, Dr. Lovenish Bains, Dr. Darshanjit Singh Walia and Dr. Nitin Nagpal, among several other renowned experts were present.
