LPU Emerged Overall Champion at All India Inter University Wushu Championship 2026 with 23 Medals

Lovely Professional University emerged as the Overall Champion at the All India Inter University Wushu Championship 2026 held in Srinagar, delivering an exceptional. The prestigious championship was organised by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES) under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities and witnessed participation from thousands of student athletes representing universities from across India.

Demonstrating exceptional discipline, resilience, and sporting excellence, LPU secured a tally 23 medals across both Men’s and Women’s categories, including 8 Gold, 8 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals. The championship featured competitions across 12 weight categories in Men’s Sanda and 10 weight categories in Women’s Sanda, alongside Taolu events in both divisions.

The tournament witnessed highly competitive bouts and remarkable performances across categories, with athletes progressing through multiple challenging rounds. LPU athletes consistently displayed technical brilliance, mental strength, and competitive spirit throughout the championship, ultimately securing the overall title.

Congratulating the athletes and coaches on this remarkable accomplishment, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU stated, “Sports instill discipline, resilience, leadership, and the courage to excel under pressure. Achievements like these reflect not only athletic excellence but also the strength of character and determination our students possess.

Over the years, it has evolved into a globally recognised competitive sport enjoyed by thousands worldwide for its unique blend of athleticism, discipline, and technique. Sport Wushu is primarily categorised into two major disciplines namely Taolu (Routines Competition) and Sanda (Free Fighting Competition).
