The 9th edition of Lovely Professional University’s mega innovation expo, Innotek 2026, featured over 700+ student led innovations across 26 schools, reinforcing a strong shift from classroom learning to applied, outcome driven education. The expo was inaugurated by Rajeev Shukla, Member of Parliament, Former Union Minister, Vice President of Board of Control for Cricket in India, and Former Chairman of Indian Premier League.

During the inauguration, he also unveiled a unique student innovation, the “Self Nailing Hammer,” highlighting the practical ingenuity demonstrated by young innovators. “India’s future lies in such innovation driven thinking where students are not just learning but building solutions for real world challenges,” said Rajeev Shukla, appreciating the scale and impact of student projects.

During his visit, Mr. Shukla explored a wide range of student innovations and acknowledged their creativity, technical depth, and forward looking approach. The event also featured a lively cultural showcase, adding energy and celebration to the occasion.

The expo provided a platform for students to address real world challenges through interdisciplinary thinking. The innovations demonstrated not just technical competence but also a clear understanding of usability, scalability, and societal relevance.

The projects on display ranged from A.U.R.A, an indigenous submarine built with advanced engineering precision, to Dr. Braille, an AI powered assistive device supporting visually impaired learners. Vritra presented a defence focused concept, while Charlie, an interactive robotic system, demonstrated responsive human like engagement.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU stated that innovation is not merely the generation of ideas, but the ability to shape them through direction, critical thinking, and sustained mentorship. Dr. Mittal said that a structured academic environment plays a decisive role in helping students refine their thinking, test their concepts, and align them with real world needs.

Dr. Mittal added that when young minds are supported with the right guidance and exposure, their ideas evolve beyond concepts into meaningful solutions that can contribute to industry, society, and emerging global challenges. Following a rigorous evaluation by expert panels, the School of Polytechnic emerged as the Overall Winner, while the School of Bioengineering and Biosciences secured the Overall Runner Up position.

In recognition of outstanding innovation, a total prize pool of ₹2.5 lakh was distributed among the top innovators. Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, and Director General HR Singla graced the event, along with senior dignitaries of LPU, adding to the significance of the occasion.

At LPU, innovation is supported through dedicated spaces such as its Innovation Studio, where students actively brainstorm, experiment, and refine their ideas in a collaborative environment. With guidance from faculty experts and industry mentors, these ideas are systematically developed into scalable projects and potential startups.

This approach reflects LPU’s EduRevolution, where learning extends beyond classrooms into hands on creation and problem solving.
