Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, while reviewing various welfare schemes being implemented by the government, issued strict instructions to officials to ensure their smooth implementation so that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of these facilities. During a review meeting held at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the progress of cards being made under the Mukha Mantri Sehat Yojna in the district.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amaninder Kaur and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Tejdeep Singh Saini were also present. He stated that under this scheme, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is providing cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh to every family in the state.

He directed SDMs to ensure regular monitoring so that the benefits of this important scheme reach the grassroots level. He also instructed that continuous review of the camps being organized for card creation should be carried out, proper coordination with operators be maintained, and any issues arising should be resolved immediately to avoid inconvenience to the public.

He emphasized the need for widespread awareness to ensure maximum outreach of the scheme. In a separate meeting, while reviewing the  door-to-door survey work being carried out in villages under the SVAMITVA–Mera Ghar Mere Naam scheme, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to expedite the process.

He instructed that pending ground truthing work in certain villages be completed on a priority basis. He appealed to the public to cooperate with patwaris visiting villages for ground truthing of Map-1.

He also urged people to submit objections related to Map-3 to the concerned tehsildars within the stipulated time so that these can be resolved at the earliest. During this period, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the Easy Registration initiative and the Chief Minister Teerth Yatra Scheme.

In another meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to remain fully vigilant in the field to effectively prevent incidents of wheat stubble burning and to create awareness among farmers about its harmful effects. He directed officials to closely monitor such incidents and ensure that any case is investigated and reported within 24 hours so that action can be taken as per rules.

He also directed officials of the Agriculture Department to continuously sensitize farmers through awareness activities about the harmful effects of burning crop residue. Additionally, farmers should be informed about agricultural machinery being provided by the government on subsidy for proper management of stubble.

He stressed that it is essential to educate farmers about the adverse effects of stubble burning and the available alternatives to address this issue. All SDMs, the District Revenue Officer, and officials from various departments were present in the meetings.
