Huriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while welcoming referendum onindependence accorded to Scotland, termed Britain’s decision ‘politically mature’ and based on democratic principles.Mirwaiz in a statement issued to KNS maintained that Scotland's referendum on independence shall pave way for other nations who have been oppressed including Kashmir to remain optimistic and steadfast while striving for their birth right.Mirwaiz observed further that Britian along with other independent nations across the globe must prevail over Government of India (GOI) to resolve Kashmir at an earliest so that bloodshed, mayhem and crushing of the dissent with the military might could end. “It is the moral responsibility of Britain to use its good offices so that people’s aspirations could be taken into account for the early settlement of Kashmir dispute,” statement quoting Huriyat (M) chief reads.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz visited various areas of the Srinagar city on Thursday affected by worst ever floods including Natipora, Mehjoor Nagar, Sanat Nagar, Tengpora Bye Pass and other adjoining areas. The Huriyat chief while interacting with the flood victims also took stock of the functioning of the relief camps, operational in various areas here.The spokesman stated that Mirwaiz while terming the recent floods unfortunate, dreadful and turbulent termed the aftermath as a warning from Allah.
While appreciating the concerns and efforts of local people in extending all possible help to the flood hit victims, Mirwaiz said that despite the havoc took everything from the people here; the unanimous efforts of the nation even in the midst of catastrophe deserve appreciation.According to the spokesman, people at various relief camps appraised the Huriyat (M) chief about the failure of the state administration in bringing relief to the victims and also castigated the hollow claims being made in media circles over relief operations.Mirwaiz also provided the needful entities out of Central Relief Camp Mirwaiz Manzil Rajoori Kadal to the flood hit people.
