Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media Incharge Baltej Pannu said that the campaign launched by CM Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government to eliminate gangsterism, 'Gangsters te Vaar', is receiving unprecedented public support. Pannu stated that a large number of people across Punjab have come forward to assist the police through the special helpline number issued against gangsters, which proves that there is no longer any space left for criminals in the state.

Sharing the figures, Baltej Pannu said that around 590 people have registered their complaints on this helpline so far. He clarified that the government’s priority is the safety of the complainant, and therefore the identity of every individual providing information is being kept completely confidential. Among the complaints received, 83 are related to drug trafficking, 35 to extortion (ransom), 43 to gangsters, and 86 to illegal weapons.

Based on these complaints, prompt action has been taken, and FIRs have been registered in 63 serious cases so far. Pannu further said that various gangsters and their associates have been named in these FIRs, which has broken the backbone of their networks.

He added that such a large number of people coming forward fearlessly to lodge complaints shows that the people of Punjab have full faith in the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the intentions of the Mann Government. Many other complaints are currently under detailed investigation, and legal action will be taken on them soon.

Baltej Pannu said that it is due to this unwavering trust of the people that the AGTF is achieving such significant success in the fight against gangsterism. He assured the people of Punjab that this campaign to make the state crime-free and safe will continue until gangsterism is completely eradicated from Punjab.
