Union Minister of State for Defence Sh. Sanjay Seth today provided financial assistance to the families of seven workers who lost their lives in the recent accident at the under-construction site of Signature Global in Sidhrawali village of Gurugram. Cheques of ₹20 lakh each were handed over to the families of the deceased.

Additionally, financial assistance of ₹20,000 each was given to the families to cover travel expenses. The Union Minister met the bereaved families at the PWD Rest House in Gurugram on Thursday and consoled them during this difficult time.

A day earlier, Union Minister of State Sh. Sanjay Seth had spoken with Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini regarding the accident. The Chief Minister assured that every possible assistance would be extended to the families of the workers who lost their lives in the incident and reaffirmed that the Haryana Government stands firmly with the affected families in this hour of grief.

Following his conversation with the Chief Minister, he arrived in Gurugram late Wednesday evening along with Jamshedpur MP Sh. Bidyut Baran Mahato from Jharkhand and met the families of the deceased workers. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini for taking prompt action after the accident and extending sensitive support to the affected families.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram  Sh. Ajay Kumar and Commissioner of Police Sh. Vikas Arora, along with other senior officials, were also present. It is noteworthy that on the evening of March 9, seven workers lost their lives when soil collapsed at the construction site of Signature Global in Sidhrawali village of Gurugram district.

The deceased workers were identified as Shivshankar, Parmeshwar Mahto, Mangal Mahto, Bhagirath Gope, Sanjeev Gope, Dhananjay Gope, residents of Jharkhand, and Satish, a resident of Rajasthan. Four other workers were injured in the incident. The Union Minister of State also informed the families about the assistance being provided by the Haryana Government and the action being taken in connection with the accident.

Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram Sh. Ajay Kumar informed that apart from the ₹20 lakh financial assistance provided to each family, an additional ₹4 lakh will be given from the Haryana Government’s Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Welfare Fund, and more than ₹15 lakh will be provided under the Workmen Compensation Act. In this way, each family will receive total financial assistance of approximately ₹40 lakh.
