A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, to assess the situation in the city in view of the prevailing international developments and the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict. The meeting reviewed the preparedness of the administration and the availability of essential commodities in the Union Territory.

The Administrator was apprised that the Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh has issued a public notice requesting that if any resident of Chandigarh is presently stranded in any of the war-affected Asian countries, their family members or acquaintances should immediately inform the Office of the Deputy Commissioner with complete details.

The information may be shared by visiting the office or through email at [email protected], including the person’s name, passport number (if available), country and city of current location, contact details, and details of family members in Chandigarh, so that the administration can coordinate necessary support and relief measures.

During the meeting, the Administrator reviewed the availability of essential commodities including oil and fuel in the city. He was informed that there is no shortage of these essential items in UT Chandigarh, and adequate supplies are available to meet the requirements of residents.

Referring to the prevailing international situation, the Administrator stated that certain concerns have been raised in some quarters regarding a possible shortage of LPG gas due to the ongoing conflict. However, he clarified that the Chandigarh Administration is closely monitoring the situation and there is no cause for concern at present.

Sh. Kataria emphasized that hoarding or black marketing of oil, fuel, or LPG cylinders will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed the concerned departments to maintain strict vigilance. In this regard, teams of the Food and Civil Supplies Department have been constituted to conduct inspections at various locations across the city to prevent hoarding and ensure smooth distribution.
