In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing academic and technical opportunities for specially abled students of Government Abhinandan Home, a meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; District Social Welfare Officer, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad; Nodal Principal Colleges, Kashmir Division, Prof. Seema Naaz; Principal, Government Polytechnic College Gogji Bagh/Bemina, Principal, ITI Baghi Dilawar Khan/Bemina, Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, Chief Education Officer, Principal, Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI); Deputy Director Employment Srinagar; and Assistant Director Handicrafts & Handloom Srinagar.

The detailed deliberations were held on a proposal to broaden academic and technical avenues for students of Abhinandan Home, a special school catering to children with hearing, speech and visual challenges. Comprehensive discussions were held regarding the need to set up higher education academic facilities, introduction of vocational training, skill development programmes, and trade diploma courses through ITIs to strengthen educational pathways for specially-abled students. 

The participants also emphasized the need for structured support systems to enhance career prospects and ensure holistic development of children with special needs. On the occasion, the DC stressed the importance of empowering students of Abhinandan Home with improved access to academic education, technical training, and sustainable career opportunity.
