In a significant step toward fostering a business-friendly environment and ensuring prompt resolution of traders’ concerns, the district unit of the Punjab State Traders Commission convened its first district-level meeting today at Qila Market, Sangrur. The initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to engaging directly with the trading community and addressing their issues in a structured and transparent manner.
A large number of small and medium traders participated in the meeting and placed their concerns before the Commission. Several issues were resolved on the spot, while the remaining grievances were forwarded to the concerned departments with clear directions for time-bound action. It was assured that all pending matters would be addressed before the next meeting.
Sangrur MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj, who was present on the occasion, stated that the Punjab Government is proactively reaching out to traders to understand and resolve their challenges. She emphasized that the objective is to further strengthen pro-trade policies and establish a robust, transparent grievance redressal mechanism.
She highlighted that, for the first time, the Traders Commission has been constituted not only at the district level but also down to the Assembly constituency level, ensuring wider accessibility and representation of the trading community. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba reaffirmed that the district administration is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of traders and ensuring the timely disposal of every grievance.
He urged traders to submit their concerns in writing to facilitate swift and effective action. He assured that every matter raised before the Commission would receive immediate attention and appropriate follow-up.
District Traders Commission Chairman Arun Jindal appealed to traders to maintain direct contact with the Commission for prompt assistance. He informed that traders’ grievances will be heard every Wednesday at the District Planning Committee office located within the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex. Traders may also approach any member of the Commission at any time for support.
The trading community welcomed the initiative, expressing confidence that such regular interactions would strengthen coordination between the government and traders and ensure practical, ground-level solutions to business-related issues. Senior officials from various departments and representatives of trade associations were also present during the meeting.
