Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu, while launching an attack on former Chief Minister and Congress Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi, said that releasing a video on social media and pointing out locations where “chitta” (drugs) is available is an extremely shameful and irresponsible act by a Member of Parliament.

A person holding a responsible position should work to stop drugs, not promote places where drugs are sold.Pannu said that whether it was the 10-year Akali-BJP rule or the subsequent Congress governments led by Captain Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Channi himself, all of them allowed drugs to flourish in Punjab and never took any concrete steps to stop it.

Today, when the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is waging the ‘War Against Drugs’, which has created fear among drug traffickers, leaders like Channi are releasing videos and telling people where chitta is available. This is a deliberate conspiracy to directly torpedo the government’s anti-drug campaign and help drug smugglers.

Baltej Pannu further said that the duty of a responsible public representative is to inform the police and get drugs stopped, not to publicize drug hotspots through videos. He questioned whether Channi is now working as a brand ambassador for drug sellers.Pannu said that the people of Punjab are watching how Congress leaders are creating obstacles instead of supporting the war against drugs.

He demanded clarification from the Congress party and its leaders, asking them to state clearly whether they stand with the government’s anti-drug campaign or with drug sellers.Pannu warned that such cheap politics will not weaken the AAP government’s resolve to eliminate drugs. The government will continue its fight until drugs are rooted out of the state.
