Under the significant “War Against Drugs” campaign launched by the Punjab Government to completely eradicate drug abuse and to create a crime-free society, the Sangrur District Police has been continuously taking strict action against anti-social elements. In this regard, following the clear directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Sartaj Singh Chahal, special cordon and search operations were conducted in various areas of the district under the leadership of SP (Headquarters) Rajesh Chhibber.
During these operations, police carried out naka-bandi (checkpoints) and intensive checking at the Sangrur bus stand, as well as other crowded places, sensitive areas, main roads, and transport hubs. Police teams thoroughly checked people coming and going, questioned suspicious individuals, and conducted detailed searches of vehicles.
The main objective of these cordon and search operations was to curb drug trafficking, illegal activities, snatching, thefts, and other criminal activities. On this occasion, SP (HQ) Rajesh Chhibber stated that the district police has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, and anyone found involved in drug-related activities will be brought under the ambit of the law.
He added that such surprise and large-scale operations will continue regularly in the future to maintain a sense of fear among criminal elements. He appealed to the residents of the district to fearlessly share any information related to drugs or any kind of illegal activity with the police, assuring that the identity of informers would be kept completely confidential.
The Sangrur District Police clarified that elements disturbing law and order will not be spared at any cost, and that the police administration is fully committed to creating a drug-free, safe, and peaceful society. On this occasion, DSP (R) Sangrur, Sukhdev Singh, along with a large number of police personnel, was present.
