The Sub-Divisional level 77th Republic Day ceremony was organised at Anaj Mandi, Barara in a dignified and celebratory atmosphere. Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Shri Kartikeya Sharma attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, he unfurled the National Flag, took the salute of the parade, and addressed the gathering.
The Rajya Sabha MP extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes on the 77th Republic Day to senior citizens, mothers and sisters, youth, families of freedom fighters, officers of the district administration, media representatives, and students present at the ceremony.
In his address, he said that January 26 is the foundation day of Indian democracy, as it was on this day that the nation resolved to be governed not by any individual or power, but by the Constitution, the rule of law, and democratic values.
He said that the Constitution granted citizens fundamental rights such as justice, liberty, and equality, and united India’s diversity into a single national identity, strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.He paid homage to the architect of the Constitution, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and all members of the Constituent Assembly, and offered tributes to freedom fighters and martyrs.
He said that the sacrifices and struggles of leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Dr Rajendra Prasad laid the foundation of a free and strong India.The Rajya Sabha MP said that India’s progress has been driven by the hard work of farmers, labourers, artisans, soldiers, and scientists.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is reaching new heights. He highlighted India’s achievements in successfully executing missions such as Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Suryaan, and noted that the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south pole stands as a symbol of India’s scientific excellence.
He said that Haryana has played a significant role in this development journey and has set new benchmarks in social and economic progress. In memory of the people of Haryana who played a leading role in the freedom movement, an international-level Shaheedi Memorial has been constructed in Ambala, which will continue to inspire future generations with patriotism and a sense of duty.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that Haryana has made notable progress in the fields of education, health, and sports. Joining the armed forces continues to be a matter of pride for the youth of Haryana, which is why every tenth soldier in the Indian Army comes from the state. Haryana is not only the food provider of the nation but also stands at the forefront of national security.
He said that while the debt of martyrs can never be repaid, their families can be honoured by taking responsibility for their welfare. With this spirit, the Haryana Government has constituted the Soldiers and Paramilitary Welfare Department. A provision of an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore has been made for martyrs from the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and Agniveers.
Agniveers have been given 10 percent reservation in direct recruitment. The process of providing government jobs to the dependents of the 1984 riot victims has also been initiated, and so far, 418 dependents of martyrs have been provided employment.
He said that following the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and the mantra of Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek given by Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the present state government has made good governance a medium of service. Through the Family Identity Card, e-governance, and extensive use of IT, transparency has increased and eligible beneficiaries are receiving benefits of schemes directly.
He informed that senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities are receiving a monthly pension of Rs 3,200, along with benefits such as BPL cards, Chirayu cards, and direct payment to farmers for their crops through a single click. Under the Ayushman Bharat–Chirayu scheme, citizens above 70 years of age are being provided health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.
Under the Happy Scheme, free travel of up to 1,000 kilometres is being provided in Haryana Roadways buses.In the agriculture sector, the Meri Fasal–Mera Byora portal has emerged as a strong tool for farmer welfare. The Haryana Government is procuring 24 crops at MSP at record levels, ensuring payment within 48 hours. Sugarcane is being purchased at a record price of Rs 415 per quintal.
Referring to industry and investment, he said that Haryana has become the first choice for investors due to the single-window system and online approvals, which have boosted Ease of Doing Business. He stated that more than 1.80 lakh government jobs have been provided purely on merit, without expenditure or recommendations.Highlighting the state’s sports policy, he said that Olympic and international medal-winning athletes are being provided cash awards and government jobs. An Olympic gold medalist is being awarded up to Rs 6 crore.
Speaking on women’s health, the Rajya Sabha MP said that inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of a healthy woman and an empowered family, he himself initiated the Namo Shakti Rath campaign in September 2025. Through this initiative, free and timely screening for serious diseases such as breast cancer is being conducted by visiting households, while fully maintaining the dignity and privacy of women.
The Chief Guest honoured the families of martyrs and freedom fighters. Participants from schools, outstanding employees, and social service organisations were also felicitated with certificates of appreciation and trophies.Tableaux from various departments were presented during the programme, including those of the Agriculture Department, Forest Department, Women and Child Development Department, Power Corporation, Employment Department, and Panchayat Department. Patriotic cultural performances filled the atmosphere with national pride, making the ceremony memorable.
On the occasion, former MLA Smt Santosh Chauhan Sarwan, Municipal Chairman Shri Rajat Malik, DSP Shri Suresh Kumar, along with officers from various departments, employees, public representatives, eminent citizens, and BJP workers were present.
