In line with the directions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, while the War Against Drugs 2.0 campaign has been launched for complete eradication of drugs across the state. The Chief Minister Health Scheme will officially commence from January 22 to provide health facilities to the people.
Punjab's Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated today during a press conference in the meeting hall of the district administrative complex. Prior to this, he held an important meeting with administrative officers, health department and police department regarding the War Against Drugs campaign and the Chief Minister Health Scheme.
He stated that the Chief Minister Health Scheme will officially launch from January 22, under which every family will receive cashless treatment facilities worth ₹10 lakh annually. Under this scheme, government hospitals, medical colleges, and around 650 private hospitals have been enlisted.
In Barnala district, camps will be set up at 247 locations as per the schedule, covering all 162 villages and 85 wards. He said that every family will be given a registration slip.Responding to media query he said that continuous recruitment is underway to address the shortage of doctors.
He stated that 1400 general duty medical officers have been recruited, and 170 more doctors will join. He said specialists are also being recruited. In addition, Aam Aadmi Clinics are proving highly beneficial for the public, and staff nurses are also being recruited. He said that facility managers will be recruited for the maintenance of hospitals.
The Health Minister said that padayatras have commenced in villages under War Against Drugs 2.0. Additionally, emphasis is being placed on bringing drug addicts back to the mainstream through skill development.During the meeting on this occasion, he directed the officers that no eligible family should be deprived of benefiting from the Chief Minister Health Scheme and people should be made aware in this regard.
On this occasion, Chairman District Planning Board Parminder Singh Bhangu, Deputy Commissioner T. Benith IAS, SSP Mohammad Sarfraz Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amit Bamby, Civil Surgeon Dr. Haripal Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Gurminder Kaur Aujla and other officers were present.
