VIT-AP University organized a blood donation camp on its campus today as part of 87th birthday celebrations of Dr. G. Viswanathan, the visionary founder and Chancellor of VIT group. The initiative was held in collaboration with the Government General Hospital, Guntur, with a goal to contribute to the local community’s health needs and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.

The camp was inaugurated jointly by Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman, Vice Chancellor (In-charge) of VIT-AP University, and Dr. B. Sridhar, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Pathology and Blood Bank at the Government General Hospital, Guntur, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Jagadish Chandra Mudiganti, Registrar of VIT-AP University, Sri Indraganti Sarma, Deputy Vice President of HDFC Bank, Dr.Khadeer pasha,Deputy Director – Student welfare,VIT-AP were also present and extended their support to the noble cause.

The event saw a large turnout of about 500 students, staff, and faculty members who eagerly participated in the donation drive, making it a resounding success. The blood collected will be used to meet the demands of patients in need, particularly those undergoing surgery, trauma care, and other treatments.

Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman, Vice Chancellor (In-charge), VIT-AP University, remarked,

"On this special occasion of Dr. G. Viswanathan - Hon’ble Chancellor’s 87th birthday, we are proud to continue his legacy of service to society. Blood donation is a life-saving act, and it is heartening to see so many students, Faculty and staff members came forward to help others. This initiative exemplifies the university's commitment to social responsibility and the well-being of the community."

Dr. B. Sridhar, Vice Principal and Head of Pathology and Blood Bank, Government General Hospital, Guntur, stated, “It is truly inspiring to see the energy and enthusiasm at this camp. Blood donation is one of the most generous gifts one can give, and I would like to thank VIT-AP University for partnering with us in this noble endeavour. The blood collected today will go a long way in saving lives, and I commend all the donors for their selfless contribution."

Dr. Jagadish Chandra Mudiganti, Registrar, VIT-AP University, added,

"Dr. Viswanathan has always believed in giving back to society, and today, through this blood donation camp, we are living up to his values. I encourage everyone to donate blood and make a significant difference in someone's life."

Sri Indraganti Sarma, Deputy Vice President, HDFC Bank, also expressed his support,

"HDFC Bank believes in the power of community and corporate social responsibility. It is an honor to be a part of today’s blood donation camp, and I urge everyone to consider donating blood as a regular and vital part of giving back to society."
