Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora inaugurated a first-of-its-kind Gym and Wellness Centre at the MLA Hostel, Sector-4, Chandigarh. This pioneering initiative has been launched to promote fitness and overall well-being among legislators and to encourage an active lifestyle within public life.
The Speaker said that this unique step will help MLAs remain healthy and fit, enabling them to serve the people of Punjab with greater strength and dedication. The Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Cabinet Ministers exercised on the advanced machines installed in the facility, reaffirming the government’s commitment to health and wellness.
Sandhwan urged the people of Punjab to incorporate walking and regular exercise into their routines to prevent rising lifestyle diseases. The gym is equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed for endurance, strength, core stability and flexibility, along with modern steam and sauna facilities—making it the first such comprehensive wellness setup in any MLA Hostel.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora added that the government places high priority on health and fitness and encouraged all MLAs to make regular use of this modern facility. The Speaker further stated that “health is wealth,” and noted that the people of Punjab have entrusted legislators with the responsibility to serve them effectively.
He emphasised that one may skip a meal, but exercise must never be skipped.
