Kuljit Singh Randhawa Distributes Over Rs 87.93 Lakh in Grants to 36 Panchayats of Derabassi Constituency

MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa today distributed development grants amounting to Rs 87.93 lakh to 36 gram panchayats of the Derabassi constituency to accelerate ongoing and new rural development works. The funds released today will support projects related to libraries, solid waste management, streetlights, playgrounds, drinking water facilities, community centres, repair of village streets, and drainage systems.

Grants were released to several villages for specific projects. Bhankupur and Bakarpur received Rs 5 lakh each for library development. Samgauli and Dharamgarh were allocated Rs 3 lakh each for libraries, while More Thikri received Rs 3 lakh for streetlights. Mianpur was given Rs 3 lakh for Dharamshala works, and Ibrahimpur received Rs 3 lakh for street and drainage improvement. 

For Solid Waste Management initiatives, Ibrahimpur, Paragpur, Rampur Sainia, Kheri Jattan, Punsar, Rampur Bahal, Jawansa, Fatehpur Jattan, Ramgarh Rurki and Siouli were allotted Rs 2 lakh each. Jawaharpur received Rs 2.95 lakh for drinking water facilities. Similarly, a development grant of Rs 2 lakh each was provided to the villages Dangdehra, Jharmari, Amlala, Chandiala, Rajapur, Dhiremajra, Rampur Sainian, Khelan, Malan, Jodhpur and Sarangpur for streetlight installation. 

Villages Tiwana and Sadhanpur were granted funds for playgrounds, Mandi Khajur for repair of the phirni road, Batoli and Bhankharpur for community centre works, Jarrout and Ramgarh Rurki for street and drainage improvement, Baroli for a bus shelter, and Nagla for drainage system works. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that the holistic development of Derabassi’s rural areas remains his top priority, and the grants released today will significantly expedite essential infrastructure projects.

He emphasised that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to strengthening village-level facilities and ensuring transparent and efficient utilisation of government funds. He urged panchayat representatives to complete all sanctioned works within stipulated timelines while maintaining high-quality standards so that villagers receive maximum benefit.

Officials of the Rural Development Department, panchayat representatives and local residents were present during the grant distribution ceremony.
