Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and MLA Kartarpur constituency Balkar Singh today inaugurated the sewerage project in village Barsarampur, to be carried out at a cost of Rs. One crore with the support of Non-Resident Punjabis (NRIs). Before the inauguration, a path of Sukhmani Sahib was recited at the local Gurdwara Sahib, followed by Ardas (prayer) after which the sewerage project was formally inaugurated.

On this occasion, Sant Seechewal personally operated the JCB machine to mark the commencement of the work. Addressing the gathering of villagers, Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal lauded the initiative taken by NRIs for the installation of the sewer system, describing it as commendable. He said that only through joint efforts can accelerated the pace of development work . 

He added that during the difficult times caused by floods in Punjab, NRIs extended immense support and assistance to the people of the state. On this occasion, he also announced a contribution of Rs. 5 lakh from his discretionary fund. MLA Balkar Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is not only equipping cities with modern infrastructure but is also taking several initiatives for the comprehensive development of rural areas. 

He said that NRIs are playing a vital role in the progress of Punjab and assured them that the state government will ensure they face no difficulties in carrying out their development works. He also announced a contribution of Rs. 15 lakh from his discretionary fund.

NRI Mani Singh, who came from England, informed that the Punjabis settled abroad had already collected Rs. 45 lakh for the sewer project. He assured that NRIs would ensure no shortage of funds for completing the sewer installation work. 

Sant Sukhjeet Singh stated that a survey of the sewer project in village Barsarampur had been conducted, and the total estimated cost was around Rs. One crore. On this occasion, BDPO Seva Singh and several other officials from the administration were also present. 

The villagers honoured Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, MLA Balkar Singh, NRI Jaswinder Singh Kala (UK), Chairman of Mandi Board Gurpal Singh, and other prominent personalities of the village.
