State-level Wildlife Week Celebration 2025’ launches in Gurugram

The ‘State-level Wildlife Week Celebration 2025’ was organised on Thursday at the Aravalli region near Ram Mandir complex in Manesar, Gurugram. The event aimed to promote wildlife conservation, protect biodiversity, and raise public awareness about environmental protection.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Sh. Bhupender Yadav graced the programme as the Chief Guest, while Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister, Rao Narbir Singh presided over the function.

Union Minister calls on Gurugram residents to join ‘Aravalli Green Wall’ campaign every Sunday

Addressing the gathering, Sh. Bhupender Yadav appealed to the residents of Gurugram to contribute at least one hour every Sunday morning to the Green Aravalli Campaign. He said that this small yet consistent effort could significantly increase greenery across the city, reduce pollution and help keep the environment healthy. 

With collective participation, Gurugram could emerge as a model green and clean city not only nationally but also on the global stage.The Union Minister encouraged people to plant and nurture trees in their homes, neighbourhoods and school premises. 

He said that the campaign is not just about tree-planting but also about building a deeper bond of responsibility between society and nature. This mission is for the well-being of the present as well as future generations, he added.

Environment will be protected only through wildlife conservation – Rao Narbir Singh

Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh said the Aravallis, one of the world’s oldest mountain ranges. The survival of wildlife depends on the survival of forests, and any imbalance would disturb the planet’s ecological stability. 

It is every citizen’s duty to protect animals and birds and to preserve forests. Citing the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, he said that it's important to not only plant trees but also to nurture them. 

750 saplings planted in Namo Van; 500-acre plantation drive launched

During the event, dignitaries, students, villagers and other participants planted 750 saplings at the ‘Namo Van’ and launched a tree-plantation drive across 500 acres. All participants pledged to care for the saplings.

Foundation stone laid for Aravalli Species Nursery

The Aravalli Species Nursery was also inaugurated at Manesar. This nursery will serve as a center for the propagation, conservation, and replanting of native plant and tree species in the Aravalli mountain range for re-plantation under the Green Aravalli Campaign. The initiative aims to expand green cover, provide natural habitats for wildlife and help preserve local biodiversity.

Release of key publications on biodiversity

A series of publications on Haryana’s biodiversity and environmental conservation were released jointly by Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh on this occasion

Wildlife volunteers and officers honoured

Wildlife volunteers, individuals and departmental staff who made notable contributions to wildlife conservation and environmental awareness were felicitated. Prizes were also awarded to winners of various awareness-raising campaigns run by the Forest Department in recognition of their dedicated efforts and commitment to the cause.

MLA, Sohna Sh. Tejpal Tanwar, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forests and Wildlife, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, PCCF (Wildlife) cum Chief Wildlife Warden, Dr. Vivek Saxena, PCCF, Sh. Vineet Garg, and other dignitaries also remained present.
