Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema today flagged off three ambulances from Mohali to provide medical services to residents of flood-affected border districts. Appreciating MLA Kulwant Singh for taking such initiatives, the Finance Minister said the ambulances, equipped with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, will address post-flood health challenges and protect residents from waterborne and other diseases.

Free medical check-ups and medicines will be provided for the next 45 days, and in serious cases, patients will be referred to nearby health facilities for further treatment. He also lauded the Pernod Ricard India Foundation for supporting the Punjab Government’s efforts to restore normalcy in the flood-affected areas.

Responding to media queries on the upcoming Vidhan Sabha Session, the Finance Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to providing better compensation to flood victims. He added that necessary amendments to the Disaster Management Act, Mining Acts, and other related laws will be taken up in the session after approval from the State Cabinet.

He further emphasized that the entire Aam Aadmi Party, led by the Chief Minister, is dedicated to the welfare of flood-hit families, and the session will reflect that commitment. Calling the Rangla Punjab Charhdi Kala fundraising campaign a “game-changer,” Cheema said that the overwhelming contributions from Punjabis worldwide have strengthened the efforts for restoring normalcy.

Expressing gratitude to the diaspora for extending a helping hand in these testing times, he said the fund would boost the courage of families who suffered heavy losses due to nature’s fury. The Finance Minister assured that the Punjab Government will go the extra mile and take every possible step to support the flood-affected population, with a vision of making Punjab stronger and more prosperous.

MLA Kulwant Singh expressed gratitude to Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, stating that the Mohali unit of AAP continues to stand by affected families in every possible way. District Planning Committee Chairperson and AAP District President Prabhjot Kaur, Chairman Market Committee Mohali Govind Mittal, and a large number of prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
