The Department of Computer Science & Technology and the Engineering Wing of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CU Punjab), organized a grand seminar and a series of technical events on the occasion of Engineer’s Day. The celebration was held in loving memory of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Srinivasa Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest engineers and statesmen, and was dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of engineers to nation-building.

The programme, held under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, featured Er. Tej Bansal, Chief Engineer, Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Bathinda, as Chief Guest, and Er. Ajaypal Singh Atwal, ASE, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, as Guest of Honour. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Satwinder Singh, Dean, School of Engineering & Technology, who highlighted the significance of Engineer’s Day and the role of engineers in driving innovation and development. Executive Engineer Dr. Saurabh Gupta presented an overview of the ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects at the university, showcasing the engineering excellence shaping the institution’s growth.

In their inspiring addresses, the distinguished guests Er. Tej Bansal and Er. Ajaypal Singh Atwal emphasized the importance of creativity, dedication, and problem-solving in engineering practice. They urged young engineers to unleash their innovative potential and contribute meaningfully to society through sustainable and impactful solutions.

In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari paid glowing tributes to Sir Visvesvaraya, acknowledging his visionary contributions in the fields of irrigation, flood control, and industrial development. He encouraged students to imbibe the values of excellence, discipline, and service to society exemplified by the legendary engineer. 

Prof. Tiwari further stressed the need for interdisciplinary approaches and cutting-edge research in addressing contemporary global challenges. During the event, winners of recent technical competitions were felicitated with prizes and certificates by the dignitaries. The programme was also graced by Dr. Vijay Sharma, Registrar, and Prof. Amandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Computer Science & Technology, along with other senior faculty, staff, and students.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Puneet Singh, who expressed gratitude to the invited guests, faculty, students, and organizers for making Engineer’s Day at CU Punjab a resounding success
