Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Chairman and General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Punjab, Dr. S.S. He was accompanied by AAP leader and MLA Anmol Gagan Mann’s brother Navdeep Singh Mann, Vikas Mohan, Engineer in Chief of the Board, SDOs, JEs and other officials.
Dr. Ahluwalia first inspected the Rs 22.15 crore drinking water project underway at Jhangiān Road, Kharar, and issued strict instructions to officials for its early completion. He said that this project will provide canal-based drinking water supply to Kharar residents.
Subsequently, he reviewed the Rs 18.61 crore sewerage project on the Kharar–Ladhran Road aimed at resolving the sewerage issues of the town. The project involves laying sewer lines across different wards of Kharar, which will provide significant relief to residents, once completed.
Dr. Ahluwalia further assessed the progress of the Rs 14.83 crore Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) project near Khuni Majra village. He directed officials to complete all projects at the earliest, emphasizing that no delay or laxity would be tolerated.
He said that after the STP becomes operational, treated water would be supplied to farmers’ fields, thereby addressing both agricultural and residential sewerage concerns. Highlighting the initiatives of the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government, Dr. Ahluwalia said that over the past three years, several new tubewells have been installed in different wards of Kharar to ensure adequate drinking water supply.
He reiterated that ongoing works for resolving water supply and sewerage issues will soon be completed. “The Bhagwant Singh Mann Government is committed to ensuring the availability of clean drinking water at all costs, and in the near future, the drinking water problem in Kharar will be completely resolved,” he added.
