War Against Drugs : Drug Supply Racket Busted; 3 Accused Arrested

Sartaj Singh Chahal, SSP Sangrur, informed during a press conference held today here at the Police Lines that under the special campaign "War Against Drugs", a drug supply racket has been busted. Acting against drug traffickers and anti-social elements, the police arrested three accused and recovered 01 kg 625 grams of heroin (chitta), 03 pistols (.32 bore), 02 country-made weapons (12 bore), 13 cartridges, and 12 mobile phones.

Mr. Chahal stated that, following the recovery of 125 grams of heroin/chitta, 1 pistol (.32 bore), 7 cartridges, and 4 mobile phones in the jurisdiction of Sadar Dhuri Police Station, FIR No. 69 dated 09.04.2025 was registered under Sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act, Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act, and Sections 123, 221 of the BNS against Nigam alias Lucky (aged approximately 24), Gurpreet Singh alias Bhairon (aged approximately 28), both residents of Sangrur, and three unidentified persons. The accused had fled the scene at the time of the incident.

During the investigation, under the supervision of Mr. Davinder Attari (SP Investigation) and leadership of Mr. Daljit Singh Virk (DSP Detective, Sangrur), teams were formed under Inspector Sandeep Singh (Incharge CIA Bahadur Singh Wala) and Inspector Kanwarveer Singh (SHO, Sadar Dhuri).

The police arrested Nigam alias Lucky, who was already lodged in Sangrur District Jail in connection with Case No. 76/24, City Police Station, Sangrur, through a production warrant. Based on his interrogation, Jaspal Singh alias Billa (aged approximately 23), resident of Sangrur, was named in the case on 08.07.2025 and subsequently arrested. Two pistols (.32 bore) were recovered from his possession.

Further investigation based on Billa's statement led to the naming of Satnam Singh alias Satta (aged approximately 23), resident of Puhla, PS Bhikhiwind, who was also lodged in Sangrur District Jail. He was brought on a production warrant, and 8 mobile phones supplied inside the jail were recovered from him. 

Consequently, FIR No. 121 dated 11.07.2025 under Section 52A of the Prisons Act was registered at City-1 Police Station, Sangrur.On 11.07.2025, further interrogation of Jaspal Singh alias Billa led to the recovery of 01 kg 500 grams of heroin/chitta, 01 pistol (.32 bore), 01 country-made weapon (12 bore), 4 rounds of .32 bore, and 02 cartridges of 12 bore.Accused Gurpreet Singh alias Bhairon (aged approximately 28), resident of Sangrur, is still absconding.
