Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman S. Jasvir Singh Garhi called upon National Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Mr. Kishore Makwana in New Delhi. Mr. Makwana had extended an invitation to S. Garhi to visit the National Commission's Delhi office during his recent visit to Chandigarh.

During the meeting, S. Garhi briefed Mr. Makwana on the work being undertaken by the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission. S. Garhi urged the development of an e-governance system to enhance coordination between the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and state-level Scheduled Castes Commissions across the country.

This system would enable quicker decision-making in similar cases by drawing guidance from National Commission precedents for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes community. S. Garhi also advocated for establishing an information technology-based system to address instances where Scheduled Castes individuals file parallel appeals with both the National Commission and Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission for the same case.

He suggested that the National Commission should take the initiative to handle such cases jointly and bring uniformity to Commission operations. During his visit, S. Jasvir Singh Garhi closely observed the National Commission's functioning and discussed the effective utilization of constitutional rights granted for Scheduled Castes welfare.
