Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government is continuously taking proactive measures to provide enhanced civic amenities to urban residents across the state, said Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, while stressing to ensure comprehensive sewerage system cleaning prior to the monsoon season.
During meeting at the Municipal Bhawan here with concerned MLAs, mayors of various municipal corporations and senior departmental officials, Dr. Ravjot Singh directed authorities to ensure all ongoing development projects are completed within predetermined timelines.
The Local Government Minister gathered comprehensive information on monsoon preparedness and instructed them to ensure timely and thorough cleaning of urban sewerage systems. He stressed that during the rainy season, rainwater should not mix with sewage water and overflow onto streets and lanes.
Underlining the provision of clean drinking water and efficient sanitation facilities for city residents, the Cabinet Minister assured that the government faces no shortage of funds for development initiatives, directing municipal corporations to prepare comprehensive proposals for necessary development works and submit them to headquarters.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the government is continuously implementing measures to transform the state into a clean and prosperous Punjab. He urged officials to ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of streets and lanes in cities.
He categorically warned that any negligence in sanitation arrangements would result in strict action against responsible officials, with no tolerance for oversight.The Minister addressed the growing stray dog population in cities, directing all officials to effectively implement Animal Birth Control (ABC) programs in their respective jurisdictions to manage this issue.
Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi and Arun Narang along with Local Government Department Director Gurpreet Singh Khaira, PMIDC CEO Deepti Uppal and officials from the Local Government Department and Sewerage Board.
