University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Ved Prakash would address all the Universities of the country from Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh on the topic of ‘Impetus to Research: Strategic Planning and Work-Plan’ on August 14. The programme is being organised as part of commemoration of completion of sixty years of UGC. The national web address to all the Universities would be transmitted nationwide (live webcast) via the National Knowledge Network (NKN) on August 14 at 11 AM sharp from PU Auditorium at PU Campus. The live webcast would be available at http://webcast.gov.in/punjabuni/.
During the visit, Prof Ved Prakash would also interact with the young students, research scholars, faculty, the members of the Academic Council and the Governing Bodies of the University. Prof Ved Prakash would also inaugurate an Academic Block. He will also release a reprint of the book titled ‘Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar – His Life and Work’, which was authored by his son late Shri Anand Swarup hatnagar. Eight Vice Chancellors from different states like Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Haryana of the region, which were earlier part of PU, would also participate in the prestigious programme. Prof Karamjeet Singh, organizing secretary of
the seminar, informed that a galaxy of eminent persons including the Vice Chancellors of GNDU, Amritsar; Punjabi University, Patiala; Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra; MD University Rohtak; Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; Jammu University, Jammu and University of Kashmir, Srinagar and Principals of different colleges have confirmed their participation in the event.
