Harjot Bains pays tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Rayat Bahra University

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains here today recalled the services rendered by Dalit icon Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who is remembered as “The Father of the Constitution of India” and the man who fought for the oppressed.”  Speaking at the district level function for paying tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Rayat Bahra University, Bains said the architect of the Indian Constitution would always remain an inspiration to several generations. 

He said Ambedkar understood Indian society completely and paved way for the future and as such he would always remain as an inspiration to several generations, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University and Chairman of Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, speaking on the occasion said popularly known as Babasaheb, Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist Movement. 

He campaigned against social discrimination against untouchables and also supported the rights of women and labourers. Malvinder Singh Kang MP Sri Anandpur Sahib,Prabhjot Kaur Chairman district planning board Mohali, Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board Parminder singh goldy were prominent among those present at the function. 

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal welcomed the Cabinet Minister on his arrival. Later the minister distributed letters to five beneficiaries each of Post Matric Scholarship for SC students’ schemes, Ashirwad Scheme and PMAGY scheme.
