In a major step under Punjab Government’s educational reform initiative, Punjab Sikhya Kranti; school infrastructure development works worth ₹3.81 crore were inaugurated across Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) district on Wednesday. 

These projects, dedicated to students, were carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, as a part of a state-wide campaign of carrying out infrastructure updation in 12,000 government schools at a cost of ₹2,000 crore.

The school infrastructural upgrade works inaugurated across the district include Rs 1.26 crore in Dera Bassi, Rs 54 lakh in Kharar, and Rs 21.80 lakh in Mohali. Local MLAs led the inaugural drive at ten schools throughout the district.

In Mohali, MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurated several projects at Government Girls Smart Senior Secondary School, Sohana. These included a modern smart classroom built at a cost of Rs 9.55 lakh, a badminton court costing Rs 1.5 lakh, and a toilet block built for Rs 1.2 lakh.He also inaugurated a smart classroom at Government Primary School, Sohana, constructed at a cost of Rs 9.55 lakh. These facilities were dedicated to the students for their enhanced learning experience and brighter future.

In Dera Bassi, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa inaugurated development works at multiple schools; Government Primary School, Basauli: Renovated boundary wall costing Rs 10 lakh, Government Primary School, Tasanbali: New boundary wall and classroom at a cost of Rs 11.03 lakh, Government High School, Tassimbli: Renovation of boundary wall, new classrooms, toilets, and laboratory at a total cost of Rs 31.13 lakh, Government Primary School, Hamayunpur: New classrooms built for Rs 7.51 lakh and Government Senior Secondary School, Handesra: Extensive renovation, new classrooms, toilets, and laboratory built at a cost of 75.48 lakh.

In Kharar, MLA Anmol Gagan Maan inaugurated updated infrastructure projects at Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Kurali. These included a spacious new library room costing 9.65 lakh, a new classroom for Rs 9.55 lakh, Renovation of the school boundary wall costing Rs 3 lakh.

Additionally, MLA Maan inaugurated two newly constructed classrooms each at Government Primary Smart School, Jhingran Kalan and Government Primary Smart School, Suhali, with an aggregated cost of Rs 30.04 lakh. These classrooms are equipped with modern facilities, including projectors and LED TVs.

MLAs said that these initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s strong commitment to transforming government schools into state-of-the-art learning centers, ensuring students receive quality education in a modern environment.Even, MLA Derabassi Kuljit Singh announced to adopt Govt High School Tassimbli besides a month salary as an award to the student who will top from the government schools of his constituency in Punjab School Education Board Exam.
