Launching ‘SAMPARK’ program of Punjab Poluce here on Monday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) (Human Rights) Naresh Arora solicited public cooperation to eradicate the drug menace with unified efforts.
While interacting with the representatives of panchayats and other organisations at Hoshiarpur City Centre, ADGP Naresh Arora stated Punjabis had wiped out militancy and drugs could also be contained with support and cooperation of people.
At sampark meeting attended by nearly 900 people from all seven sub-divisions, Arora said all of us should join hands against this social problem so that the unbounded energy of youngster could be channelised. He said under campaign against drugs Hoshiarpur police had attached property of peddlers worth over Rs 25 crore.
Reviewing Punjab government flagship campaign ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’ in Hoshiarpur, where he held meeting with police officials-after sampark meeting, ADGP directed officials to be proactive in controlling crime and drug menace. Senior officers including Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik , SDMs and BDPOs participated in the meeting, which reflected the district administration’s strong commitment to the anti-drug movement.
Later, under Mission Operation Seal X, which focussed on sealing inter-state and inter-district Naka and ensuring intensive checking, ADGP Naresh Arora visited the Manguwal Naka located at the Punjab-Himachal border, where security arrangements and vigilance were thoroughly checked and ensured.He held a crime review meeting with all officers and SHOs, assessing the ongoing efforts under the NDPS front.
He informed as many as 166 FIRs under the NDPS act were registered till date and 253 accused persons were arrested. The property worth Rs 25 crore has been freezed under Section 68F of the NDPS Act. As many as 27 drug addiction were sent to de-addiction and rehabilitation centers under Section 64A of the NDPS Act through proper court orders for their treatment.
