District Development Council Chairperson Saraf Singh Nag, along with Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee to finalize projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The centrally-sponsored initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, focuses on improving the socio-economic condition of minorities across India. The PMJVK scheme aims to bridge socio-economic gaps through targeted interventions in health, education, and skill development.

During the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Sachin Sharma provided a comprehensive briefing on the scheme and the works to be approved. The District Level Committee headed by DDC Chairperson emphasized the importance of achieving the scheme's objectives, which aim to bridge the socio-economic gaps in various sectors, including health, education and skill development.

Some new works were proposed in the meeting and the Deputy Commissioner gave directions to CMO and CEO   to assess the feasibility of the same at the earliest. A total of nine projects received approval from the committee out of which eight were from the Education Department and one from the Health & Medical Education Department.

The initiative marks a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Reasi and fostering inclusive growth in the region. DPO Pankaj Bagotra, CPO Narinder Kumar, CEO, and CMO were also present in the meeting.
