Dr. Akhil Jain (Padma Dakalia), trustee of Manohar Gaushala Khairagarh, has been honored with the prestigious ‘Prani Mitra’ award by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) for his outstanding contributions to animal welfare and protection. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, SP Singh Baghel, along with George Kurian, presented the award.
AWBI Chairman Abhijit Mitra was also present at the event. A two-minute video showcasing his efforts for cattle welfare was screened during the ceremony.A textile businessman by profession, Akhil Jain is dedicated 24/7 to cow service. He believes that the word ‘Gau’ (cow) contains ‘Aay’ (income), symbolizing his perspective on cow service.
For him, the utility of cows is backed by scientific reasoning. He emphasizes that cows are not just milk-producing animals but play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance. At Manohar Gaushala, sick and elderly cattle are provided with special care and shelter.
Additionally, he promotes products made from cow dung and cow urine. His initiatives include ‘Fasal Amrit’ and ‘Manohar Organic Gold,’ both used in agriculture, with their effectiveness certified by Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. Other cow-based products such as tablets, idols, mats, incense sticks, and garlands are also being manufactured.
His renowned cow, ‘Chandramani,’ has earned him global recognition. Recently, he was also honored with the Chhattisgarh State Award, and now, he has received national recognition.
