Cleaning of Buddha Dariya is a Top Priority for Our Government – Dr. Ravjot Singh

Today, the Minister for Local Government, Dr. Ravjot Singh, chaired a meeting at the Municipal Bhawan with senior officials from the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Punjab Science, Technology and Environment Department, and Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board to discuss urgent measures to make Buddha Dariya  pollution-free. 

He instructed that strict measures should be taken to ensure that the discharge of industrial wastewater is fully stopped to avoid affecting the efficiency of the sewerage treatment plants. During the meeting, Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh emphasized that no industry or individual would be allowed to pollute Buddha Dariya. 

He directed that immediate and strict action be taken against factories or units violating the regulations. Cabinet Minister further stated that the Punjab Pollution Control Board should form a joint team including officials from the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. 

He said this team would carry out daily inspections to identify which sources are responsible for polluting the sewerage treatment plants and Buddha Dariya. He further instructed that a complete report be prepared and legal action be taken against the culprits.

Dr. Ravjot Singh reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to making the state pollution-free. He emphasized that for the success of this mission, it is essential for the government, administration, and the public to work together.

Present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary of the Local Government Department Tejveer Singh, Administrative Secretary of the Science, Technology, and Environment Department Priyanka Bharti, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board Dr. Adarsh Pal Singh, Director of the Local Government Department Gurpreet Singh Khaira, CEO of P.M.I.D.C. Deepti Uppal, along with senior officials from the Punjab Pollution Control Board and Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
