Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today calls upon the entire Journalist fraternity to come forward and join hands with the state government for establishing peace, unity and communal harmony in the state.Mr. Badal was addressing a large attended function of Press Club SAS Nagar, on the occasion of charge taking ceremony of newly elected governing body of the press club. Advocating the fundamental rights of the states, Mr. Badal emphasized the need of performing proactive role by the media to establish true federal structure in the country. He said that the main objective of journalism was to serve the people by raising their voice for their rights and it was a high time to do so. He further added that the self-centered and wrong policies of the Central government had converted the states just into the dignified Municipal Committees and it was only the press that could brought awareness amongst the masses to stand against such irresponsible attitude. Sighting the example of the recent Delhi Municipal Corporations election results in the favour of SAD-BJP, Mr. Badal said that Delhi which was like a mini India, through its verdict had clearly depicted the possibilities of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in their favour only because of their pro-people policies and attitude, which was clearly missing in the congress led UPA government. While congratulating and honoring the members of newly elected team of the press club, Mr. Badal assured that all their genuine demands would be considered sympathetically. Speaking on the occasion former Union Minister and SAD incharge of SAS Nagar Balwant Singh Ramuwalia appreciated the role played by media during the dark days of emergency. Appreciating the efforts of SAD-BJP government to bring back Punjab at its original number one state position in the country, Mr. Ramuwalia said that under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Badal the outstanding achievements of the state were being cherished across the globe. In his welcome address the newly elected senior vice president of Press Club Hallary Victor thanked the Chief Minister for putting Mohali on the world map through strengthening its infrastructure at the world class level. Prominent amongst those who spokes on the occasion included Chief Parliamentary Secretary N.K. Sharma, Senior Journalist Harbans Singh and Darshan Singh Sodhi.
