Deputy Commissioner Sakshi swahney has issued strict instructions to curb stubble burning in the district, emphasizing the need for environmental. This move comes after nine incidents of stubble fires were reported in district. She appointed nodal officer at every village level to respond to fire incidents and take action against farmers.
She stated that Fire information received from satellites to ensure prompt action. She directed where fires occur will be registered in the land records and FIRs will be filed against farmers. SE pollution control board described in meeting Rs 2,500 imposed on farmers found burning stubble till date.
He expressed concern over the destruction of nature and emphasized the need to stop stubble burning. Mr Sukhdev Singh said that. To curb the stubble burning in the coming paddy season, district administration has chalked out a comprehensive strategy which includes running an awareness campaign at village level besides keeping a hawk eye on stubble burning cases at various levels .
As per the orders of the National Green Tribunal, a District Level Coordination and Monitoring Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner. Besides that SSP, ADC (Development), Executive Engineer of Punjab Pollution Control Board, District Revenue officer, Agriculture development officers will be the members and Chief Agriculture Officer will be the convenor of the committee. The Committee review of the awareness activities and action taken against fire incidents will be made.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Swahney IAS also made it clear that under new strategy, Government officials/employees will be watched closely by village level teams so that they should not burn stubble in their fields . He said that if any employees found guilty on that , he/she will face strict action besides making adverse entries in their service record.
