Aam Aadmi Party has sharply criticized the BJP and Home Minister Amit Shah following the Supreme Court's comments on the CBI's handling of the bail case for AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Excise Policy case. At a media conference with AAP spokesperson Govinder Mittal at the Chandigarh party office on Saturday, MLA Dinesh Chaddha accused the Bharatiya Janata Party, particularly Home Minister Amit Shah, of orchestrating the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal.
He asserted that the Supreme Court's ruling substantiated this claim. Chaddha highlighted that the Supreme Court questioned why the CBI, which had remained silent for 22 months after questioning Kejriwal, suddenly chose to arrest him just before he was about to secure bail in the ED case.
The court also described the CBI's arrest as both illegal and unfair. The Supreme Court reprimanded the CBI, stating that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal was discriminatory and politically motivated.
The CBI was urged not to act like a "caged parrot" and to work on maintaining its credibility, avoiding actions driven by political motives. Dinesh Chaddha asserted that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal clearly demonstrated that the CBI acted at the behest of Home Minister Amit Shah, given that the agency is under his ministry.
He claimed that this entire conspiracy was orchestrated by Shah, who misused the investigation agency in an unconstitutional and unruly manner to arrest a sitting Chief Minister. Chaddha called for Shah to take responsibility and resign. He said that the BJP's motive behind arresting Arvind Kejriwal was to dismantle the Aam Aadmi Party, but they failed in their attempt.
Our leaders, MLAs, and MPs remained united and did not fall prey to the BJP's conspiracy. They could not weaken us in Delhi, Punjab, and Chandigarh, even by imprisoning top leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh. The BJP has completely failed in its efforts to buy and break the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party.
He also criticized the BJP's claim that Arvind Kejriwal cannot perform his duties as Chief Minister or sign official documents. He pointed out that Kejriwal does not currently oversee any department but can still sign files that need to go to the LG.
This claim was merely a part of the conspiracy to prevent him from being released from jail. However, the truth has emerged victorious with Kejriwal's release.
