District Election Officer Sachin Kumar Vaishya today said that Jammu District is well prepared for smooth conduct of polling scheduled on October 1, 2024- the third and last phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections.  He was giving an overview of the overall preparedness and arrangements for elections at a meeting attended by General Observers, D. Amoy Kumar, Gopala Krishan K., Abhinav Chandra, Monica Malik, D. Sajith Babu, Priyanka Das, along with Expenditure Observers Amaresh Kumar Tiwari, B.K. Vishnu Priya and Gayatri M, and Police Observer Manav Verma.

Nodal Officers responsible for various aspects of the elections were also present at the meeting. During the discussions, the Observers stressed on strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and laid emphasis on ensuring that any violations are promptly dealt with to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process.

The Observers particularly highlighted the use of the cVigil app as a tool to empower both officials and citizens to report MCC violations in real-time. They also directed the officers to ensure that all necessary emergency contact numbers, including those of the DEO office and BLOs, are prominently displayed and accessible to the public.

The DEO, along with the Observers, further discussed key aspects such as the role of polling parties, the need for compliance with photography and videography norms and measures to ensure free, fair and transparent polling. Logistics, security arrangements and potential poll day challenges were also reviewed in detail.

All participating officers were briefed on their respective duties and responsibilities for the polling phase. Among the Nodal Officers present at the meeting were Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioners Ansuya Jamwal and Shishir Gupta, Director IT/DIO NIC Jammu Sanjeev Kapoor and Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Vikas Sharma, among others.

The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts to ensure the seamless conduct of elections across the district, with a strong focus on maintaining law and order and safeguarding the democratic process.
