In consonance with Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s initiative to hold public hearings in their respective constituencies, MLA from Kharar and Punjab Minister, Anmol Gagan Mann organised an open house at Shri Ram Bhawan Kharar on Thursday.She allowed every resident in the open house to raise their issues on the mic.
Most issues related to sewerage, solid waste disposal, road repairs and streetlights were immediately tasked to the local Municipal Council authorities and sub divisional magistrate for timebound resolution. The Minister said that the grievance camp launched under the name of “Sewa Samagam” will continue and we will reach every nook and corner of the Kharar constituency.
Similarly, she directed the EO Ravneet Singh to sort out the stray dog problem in the city by properly launching a sterilization drive. She said that a proper survey to be done and accordingly a qualified team hired to get rid of the problem. On complaints of water stagnation on roads particularly in private Colonies developed by colonizers she directed the Municipal Council to issue notices to those colonisers who did not set up the rainwater harvesting systems and STPs to get the problems sorted out.
On raising issues by many a resident on the issue of wastewater and stagnation of rainwater on streets in various wards due to blocked rivulet from wards 3 to 11 the Minister directed the SDM Gurmander Singh to get the area of rivulet demarcated to identify the encroachments.
The Minister also asked the EO to check the physical presence of sanitation workers while in the field on duty to ensure proper upkeeping and cleaning of the city. She also instructed the MC officials to clear the legacy waste from the old dump.Responding to the issues related to the repair of roads and proper rainwater disposal, she said that the NHAI and PWD officials would be instructed to set things right.
She said that the Kharar constituency has four sewerage projects worth 200 crores besides another Rs 200 crore canal water project from Kajauli to Kharar and Kurali. She assured the residents to complete all the projects on time.On demand of Chhajju Majra residents, she announced restoring the road to Santemajra besides acceding to the demands of street lights, drinking water tubewell and sewerage problems.
Similarly, the Fish market issue was also assured to be resolved. She ordered to start of the rainwater disposal work on Nijjar Chowk to Chhanju Majra Road with immediate effect after the monsoon season is over.She approved the demand for the construction of the Community Centre at Village Jhandemajra. She ordered the enquiry into an encroachment issue in a street of ward number 6.
The Minister said that Rs 30 crore has already been allocated for the upgradation of power infrastructure.Minister Anmol Gagan Mann while giving ample time to the grievances of residents said that Kharar has been growing at a fast pace in the field of urbanization and housing so the increasing population need extra infrastructure such as water supply, sewer disposal, roads and streetlights.
We are committed to meeting all the basic needs of the population,“ assured Minister Mann.The individual grievances related to other issues viz. Revenue, Powecom and Police were also entertained and assured to dispose of the timely.
The officers who attended the grievance redressal camp included SDM Gurmander Singh, DSP Karan Sandhu, Executive Engineer Vinay Mahajan (Local Bodies) Mr Kishor (Water Supply and Sanitation), EO Ravneet Singh and other officers.
The people who attended the Sewa Smagam camp expressed satisfaction with the response given by the Minister attentively to their issues.The Minister handed over six sewing machines to six needy women. Besides, Baba Deep Singh Youth Club Jhandemajra and Baba Baghel Singh Sports Club were given grant cheques.
