Punjab Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Investment Promotion, Labour and Hospitality, Anmol Gagan Mann said that holistic development of Kharar Assembly Constituency is on war footing and many of the key projects are underway that would be completed and dedicated to the residents soon. Kickstarting the construction of an 18.5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant and laying of 4.2 KM long sewer lines, today at Naya Gaon, the Minister said that the area residents were promised during the elections to meet all the expectations they have from their MLA and now the project worth 58.10 crores has launched today that would be completed by February 2026.
She said that the project was approved by the Punjab Chief Minister much earlier but there was a problem in identifying the site for STP and she did not want to leave the project in limbo before concrete earmarking of its site. Now, the site has been identified and the project has been kicked off.
She said that she is well known of the problem of the waterlogged streets and low-lying houses in the want of a proper sewerage system that was need of the hour due to the growing population of the Naya Gaon. The Sewer project will cater in a better way to the residents as a long-term solution to their woes, said the Minister while addressing the residents at Naya Gaon.
The Minister said that the Bhagwant Mann Government has already approved four Sewerage Projects worth Rs 200 crore besides a surface (canal) water supply project worth Rs 200 crore for Kharar and Kurali. She cautioned people to keep away from the fraudulent people who misuse her name to connect people to them. She said that in fact, all the residents are welcome to her home to get resolve any problem.
The Minister while hailing the decision of waiving off of NOCs up to 500 square yard residential plots in illegal and unauthorised colonies said that the Bhagwant Mann Government is committed to the welfare of the people of Punjab and the waiving of NOC condition is also a part of that. She said the people should take maximum benefit of the waiving off scheme that would last until November 2.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain while addressing the gathering assured the Minister of the timely competition of the project so that the people should get a major relief from the draining of waste water issue as per the increasing population needs. SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh welcomed the Minister.
