“India, today excels in most of the global benchmarks, in some areas it is at par with other big nations, whereas in other areas it is much ahead of them.” says Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh while attending the 1st “ET Government PSU awards” organized by the ‘Economic Times’ .
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space and MoS Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions praised the Public Sector Units (PSUs) for their consistent contribution to Indian economy and being the engines of growth and development.
“The rise of the Indian economy, ranked number 10 to number 5, in the present times has been possible due to the contribution of PSUs.”- the Minister said. The PSUs have lived up to the global benchmarks and standards today. It is due to their unparalleled efforts that India has risen in the global innovation index.
Today, it is ranked 40 worldwide, ahead of many economies of comparable size, whereas it was at rank 81 in 2014. The Minister also mentioned India being the pioneer of Quantum mission in the world, being one of the five or six nations of the world to be in that elite group.
The National Quantum mission is one of the major priority initiatives of the government which has multiple applications varying from space to cryptography. “The reason why Indian PSUs have excelled in present times is because they have given up the hesitation to incorporate private players,” said Dr. Jitendra Singh
Recognising their efforts, Dr Jitendra Singh also awarded various PSUs in different categories. In the category of Skill development, Hindustan aeronautics limited (HAL) received the gold award while BHASHINI was awarded gold in the adoption of AI and predictive technology category.
Other categories were Employee self-service where HPCL was the recipient of gold award, Indigenous technology adoption where BHEL was given gold award. Other winners were CDAC, EESL and so forth. As the event came to an end, the Minister was felicitated by the Economic Times before concluding with a vote of thanks for his guidance and mentorship.

‘इकोनॉमिक टाइम्स’ द्वारा आयोजित पहले “ईटी सरकारी पीएसयू पुरस्कार” समारोह में भाग लेते हुए केंद्रीय मंत्री डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने कहा, “भारत आज अधिकांश वैश्विक मानदंडों में आगे है, कुछ क्षेत्रों में यह अन्य बड़े देशों के बराबर है, जबकि अन्य क्षेत्रों में यह उनसे बहुत आगे है।”
केंद्रीय विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार), पृथ्वी विज्ञान राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार), प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय, परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग, अंतरिक्ष विभाग तथा कार्मिक, लोक शिकायत एवं पेंशन राज्य मंत्री डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में उनके निरंतर योगदान तथा वृद्धि एवं विकास के इंजन होने के लिए सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की इकाइयों (पीएसयू) की प्रशंसा की।
डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने कहा, "वर्तमान समय में 10वें स्थान से 5वें स्थान पर पहुंची भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था का विकास पीएसयू के योगदान के कारण ही संभव हुआ है।" पीएसयू आज वैश्विक मानदंडों और मानकों पर खरे उतरे हैं। उनके अद्वितीय प्रयासों के कारण ही भारत वैश्विक नवाचार सूचकांक में ऊंचे पायदान पर पहुंचा है। आज, यह विश्व में 40वें स्थान पर है, जो तुलना योग्य कई अन्य अर्थव्यवस्थाओं से आगे है, जबकि 2014 में यह 81वें स्थान पर था।
डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने यह भी उल्लेख किया कि भारत दुनिया में क्वांटम मिशन के क्षेत्र में अग्रणी है और इस विशिष्ट समूह में शामिल विश्व के पांच या छह देशों में से एक है। राष्ट्रीय क्वांटम मिशन सरकार की प्राथमिकता वाली प्रमुख पहलों में से एक है, जिसके अंतरिक्ष से लेकर क्रिप्टोग्राफी तक कई अनुप्रयोग हैं। डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने कहा, "वर्तमान समय में भारतीय सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों ने जो उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया है, उसका कारण यह है कि उन्होंने निजी कंपनियों को शामिल करने के प्रति अपनी झिझक छोड़ दी है।"
उनके प्रयासों को मान्यता देते हुए, डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह ने विभिन्न श्रेणियों के लिए सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों को पुरस्कृत भी किया। कौशल विकास की श्रेणी में, हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड (एचएएल) को स्वर्ण पुरस्कार मिला, जबकि एआई और पूर्वानुमानित प्रौद्योगिकी अपनाने की श्रेणी में भाषिणी को स्वर्ण पुरस्कार मिला।
कर्मचारी स्व-सेवा श्रेणी में एचपीसीएल को स्वर्ण पुरस्कार मिला, जबकि स्वदेशी प्रौद्योगिकी अपनाने में भेल को स्वर्ण पुरस्कार दिया गया। सी-डैक, ईईएसएल आदि अन्य विजेता रहे। कार्यक्रम के समापन से पहले डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह को इकोनॉमिक टाइम्स द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया। डॉ. सिंह के मार्गदर्शन और सलाह के लिए धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव के साथ कार्यक्रम समाप्त हुआ।
