Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, conducted a critical preparatory meeting at the Mini Secretariat on Monday, setting the stage for the anticipated Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2024 (SANJY). The meeting aimed to finalize a comprehensive action plan, ensuring that all preparatory works are carried out meticulously and in a timely manner.

During the session, departmental heads presented their respective action plans covering essential areas such as sanitation, flood protection, lighting, and parking. Discussions extended to improving mobile connectivity, establishing contingency strategies, issuing RFID cards, streamlining registration processes, and boosting overall infrastructure to support the Yatra.

The DC emphasized the necessity of early commencement of all preparatory activities to ensure a smooth and secure Yatra. He addressed accommodation issues, directing the CEO of the Sonamarg Development Authority to distribute a list of available government accommodations in Sonamarg for efficient use.

Security measures were discussed, with the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, providing insights to guarantee a safe Yatra. The meeting also focused on drawing lessons from past experiences to enhance services for the pilgrims.Specific directives were given to the Border Roads Organization to evaluate and fulfill the requirements for crash barriers along the Yatra path and to pinpoint areas requiring road improvements. 

Additionally, the Animal Husbandry Department was tasked to ensure the swift registration of ponies to aid transportation for the Yatra.Concluding the meeting, DC Shyambir issued explicit instructions to all involved departments, particularly emphasizing the improvement of essential services along the Baltal route, a key pathway for the SANJY.

The deliberative session saw participation from a host of dignitaries, including Additional District Development Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, ADC Gulzar Ahmad, CEO SDA Farooq Ahmad Baba, and representatives from civil, police, and various other line departments, all coming together to pledge a collective effort towards the successful execution of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024.
