In a significant move to enhance public service delivery and address citizen grievances, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today hosted the “LG’s Mulaqaat” - a Live Public Grievance Hearing program at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. The event marked a direct interaction between the Lt Governor and the public, where he reviewed the complaints lodged on the JKIGRAMS portal and the effectiveness of public outreach programs.

The Lt Governor instructed administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners, and senior officials to meticulously evaluate and refine public outreach initiatives for the more effective resolution of grievances. He emphasized that all governmental efforts should prioritize the common good and be executed impartially.

Highlighting the administration’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and public services, Lt Governor Sinha issued specific directives to improve educational facilities, especially in remote areas, ensuring that no school operates with just a single teacher.

He also stressed the importance of improving water supply through functional borewells and handpumps and enhancing the power transmission and distribution network to address issues like loose hanging electric wires.Significant concerns raised by citizens during the session were promptly addressed.

For instance, the construction of a girls' hostel near Higher Secondary School Pehlipora in Uri, as raised by Sh Mohd Iqbal from Baramulla, received immediate attention with promises of quick completion.Another grievance regarding the operational inefficiencies at the Bus Stand Jammu, highlighted by Sh Sohail Khan, was also taken up, with the Lt Governor urging various departments to ensure proper functioning of facilities and services for the public’s convenience.

The Lt Governor’s decisive action on the deteriorating condition of the Sumb road, brought forward by Sh Jashan Sambyal from Samba, showcased the administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructural challenges, with the Deputy Commissioner of Samba indicating that the repair works would conclude by the end of April.

The session, conducted by Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Secretary of Public Grievances, saw participation from key governmental figures, including Sh Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, and Sh Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Forests, among others. This initiative underscores the Jammu and Kashmir administration's dedication to transparency, swift grievance redressal, and the enhancement of citizen welfare and infrastructure.
