The District-level Task Force Committee (DTF) today reviewed the Action Plan for effective pulse Polio Immunization in Udhampur District. The meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai in the Mini Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, stressed on inter- departmental coordination to achieve full coverage of the children.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh, PO Poshan Subash Dogra, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Umesh Shan, District Information Officer, Rajinder Digra, all BMOs and other senior officers from various departments attended the meeting.

The Chief Medical Officer informed that 535 vaccination booths would be set up across the district to cover 85,362 children aged 0-5 years. Additionally, 13 transit points, along with 110 supervisors, and a deployment of 613 Asha workers, 483 Anganwadi workers, and 62 teachers has been planned for the polio immunization campaign.

The first round of the pulse polio campaign is scheduled for March 3, 2024, consisting of three days: the first day at booths, followed by two days for a door-to-door campaign. The DC directed the officers to prioritize high-risk areas and ensure awareness among the labor class regarding immunization. She emphasized the importance of reaching every child under 5 years with polio drops and urged the Health, ICDS, Social Welfare, and Education departments to coordinate efforts for a polio-free district.

The Education and Rural Development Departments were tasked with disseminating campaign messages through their field workers, with special emphasis on involving NGOs for awareness campaigns. The DC stressed the need for 100% success in the upcoming IPPI rounds and called for coordinated action from all members.
