Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that in the last ten years of present government over 24 crore people have come out of poverty in the country. Quoting a report he said that this has become possible because of people oriented policies of the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, which are meant to provide benefits to the last man standing.

Addressing people at Viksit Bharat Sankalap Yatra program at two places in Hoshiarpur, including at village Chabewal, today, he said that thousands of people are connecting with this Yatra and getting on the spot benefits of various central government schemes.

He said the main objective of Viksit Bharat SankalpYatra is to reach such people who, due to one reason or the other, are still deprived of the government schemes. He said as of now 80 percent panchayats have been covered through this Yatra across the country and over 15 crore people have joined this initiative of central government.

He said people are joining the Yatra because they are having faith that Modi Ki Guarantee Wali Yatra is providing benefits to the needy. Some of the families were given gas connections under Ujjwala Scheme by the Minister at both the venues.

The Jal Shakti Minister said that before the present government came into power in the centre, only 16 percent population of the country was getting tap water for drinking but after the launch of JalJeewan Mission in 2019, over 14 crore households are receiving tap water now. He said that whole Punjab has been covered under this mission and every household is getting tap water now.
